Despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, a recent BBC report reveals that the direct selling company, Avon, continues its operations in Russia.
In March 2022, amid the conflict’s outset, the company announced on social media its decision to halt investments in Russia and cease international exports of products manufactured at its Russian facility in Naro-Fominsk.
Avon specializes in skincare, makeup, and fragrance products, allowing individuals to sell directly within their communities.
While Avon’s parent company, Natura & Co, previously indicated a commitment to maintaining local product operations to support independent sellers, stating no financial advantage in Russia, a BBC investigation found that new sales agents can still register in Russia. Incentives such as cash bonuses and holidays are offered to those who meet targets.
Having established a presence in Russia since the 1990s, Avon claims to be the leading fragrance brand in the country.
Natura & Co has yet to respond to requests for comment.
