Irish fighter Gerard Burns has inked a multi-fight agreement with BRAVE Combat Federation, a leading global MMA organization headquartered in Bahrain. Burns’ contract comes on the heels of his spectacular debut at BRAVE CF 80 last December, where he delivered a thunderous KO victory over Hussain Ayyad, leaving his opponent unconscious.
The victory reverberated across the Flyweight division, marking Burns’ impactful introduction to the international MMA scene. Competing outside of Europe for the first time, Burns silenced the Bahraini crowd with his electrifying performance at BRAVE CF 80. With his long-term deal with BRAVE CF, Burns aims to clinch the prestigious title of the first-ever Flyweight world champion for the promotion.
Despite challenges including fight cancellations and weight discrepancies, Burns is determined to break what’s been dubbed the Flyweight curse and secure the inaugural belt soon after his triumph over Ayyad.
“I know that there’s no world champion right now for BRAVE CF in the Flyweight division. I’m your guy,” Burns asserted. “I promised I would bring back home to Ireland a world title and I’m going to hopefully fulfill that promise!”
Joining a formidable Flyweight roster, Burns will face tough competition from fighters such as Flavio Queiroz, Edilceu Alves, Marciano Ferreira, Zach Makovsky, Bidizina Gavashelishvili, and Muhammad Idrisov, all vying for the coveted title and a place in MMA history as the inaugural BRAVE CF Flyweight champion.
