According to the Traffic and Patrols Department, there has been a 15% reduction in fatalities per 100,000 residents and a 9% decrease in traffic accidents per 10,000 vehicles, compared to the previous year.
These positive changes have been largely attributed to rigorous traffic safety campaigns executed by the Traffic and Patrols Department, in collaboration with various strategic partners. These initiatives aim to elevate road safety awareness and adherence to traffic laws among the community.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Alay Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, stressed the ongoing commitment to traffic safety. He highlighted the collective responsibility of drivers and all road users in maintaining safety standards. He underscored the crucial role of continuous traffic education in reducing severe accidents and enhancing overall road safety, as reported by WAM.
Al Naqbi called on all drivers and road users to consistently follow traffic rules, respect speed limits, avoid distractions while driving, and stay alert to unpredictable road conditions, to sustain and improve upon these safety gains.
