Title: Trump Criticizes Taylor Swift’s Potential Biden Endorsement, Citing Music Modernization Act
Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to express his disapproval of Taylor Swift potentially endorsing President Joe Biden. In a post on the social media platform, Trump highlighted his role in passing the Music Modernization Act, which updated copyright laws to better accommodate streaming services and benefit artists like Swift.
Trump claimed credit for the Music Modernization Act, stating that it facilitated the payment of artists for online music streaming, including Swift and others. He asserted that Biden had not done anything for Swift and insinuated that there was no reason for her to endorse the “corrupt” president.
The former president emphasized the financial gains Swift has made and suggested that endorsing Biden would be disloyal to the person who played a role in her success. Despite Swift’s previous endorsement of Biden in the 2020 presidential race, Trump implied that she should reconsider and support him.
In the Truth Social post, Trump also mentioned Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, expressing his admiration for Kelce even though he might hold liberal views that may differ from Trump’s.
The timing of Trump’s post coincided with Swift’s anticipated appearance at Super Bowl LVII, where she is expected to support Kelce.
Swift has recently become a subject of wild conspiracy theories, including unfounded claims suggesting her involvement in a Department of Defense psychological operation. Additionally, baseless theories about her relationship with Kelce being part of a Democratic plan to influence the elections have circulated online. While the Biden campaign would welcome Swift’s endorsement, there is no evidence linking her relationship with Kelce to any political motives.
The Music Modernization Act, signed into law by Trump, marked a significant overhaul in musical licensing, providing compensation for sound recordings pre-dating 1972. The legislation simplified the music licensing process and ensured fair compensation for artists when their music was streamed online.
As Swift takes the spotlight at the Super Bowl, Trump’s remarks add a political undertone to the event, reflecting the ongoing intersection of celebrity, politics, and social media discourse.
