The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has officially introduced a newly redesigned AED 100 banknote, marking another milestone in the nation’s Third Issuance of the National Currency Project.
Crafted from advanced polymer material for greater durability and sustainability, the new note celebrates the UAE’s cultural heritage, economic development, and infrastructure innovation.
Front Design: Honouring Heritage
The front of the new AED 100 note proudly displays the Umm Al Quwain National Fort—a symbol of Emirati heritage and resilience. This historic structure serves as a reminder of the UAE’s roots and cultural legacy while bridging the past with the present.
Back Design: Infrastructure & Innovation
The reverse side features the Port of Fujairah, one of the UAE’s largest and most strategic ports, playing a vital role in international shipping and maritime trade.
Also highlighted is the Etihad Rail network, which connects all seven Emirates and extends into the broader Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The railway stands as a beacon of sustainable development and regional integration.
Security, Accessibility & Sustainability
The newly launched banknote incorporates state-of-the-art security features, including advanced anti-counterfeit technology and Braille symbols to ensure ease of use for blind and visually impaired individuals.
As part of the Central Bank’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, the polymer-based note is more durable than traditional paper currency, with a longer circulation life and a smaller environmental footprint.

The new AED 100 note will co-circulate alongside the existing versions, both paper and polymer, with full legal value. Banks and currency exchange institutions have been directed to update their systems and machines to accept the new banknote without disruption.
