On Monday, Ukraine shelled the city of Donetsk, resulting in four fatalities, according to a Russian-installed official in the eastern region. Simultaneously, Russia’s air attacks on various Ukrainian regions claimed at least one life, as per local officials.
Denis Pushilin, the head of the Donetsk region, reported 13 injuries in the “heavy shelling” by Ukrainian forces in the center of Donetsk. The Russian Foreign Ministry labeled the incident a “terrorist act,” alleging it targeted civilian infrastructure.
In the Russian border region of Belgorod, a person was killed by shelling, according to the local governor. On the Ukrainian side, a Russian drone attack on the southern port of Odesa resulted in one fatality and nine injuries, with falling debris causing fires in residential buildings.
A video posted by Odesa Mayor Henadii Trukhanov displayed the aftermath, with a damaged apartment building and broken windows. Officials in Lviv, bordering Poland, reported damage to a university building in Dubliany and a monument to a 1940s Ukrainian Insurgent Army commander on the outskirts of Lviv due to a Russian air attack.
Ukraine’s air force mentioned Russia’s air attack targeting the Mykolaiv and Dnipro regions. Both Russian and Ukrainian reports couldn’t be independently verified, and both sides deny targeting civilians in the ongoing war that began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
